Starting from June 6 Lean Enterprise China, with its founder and president Dr. Marcus Chao, hosted the 3-days Lean Transformation Summit – one of the most important lean conferences in Asia. More than 200 enthusiastic lean learners and advisors joined this great event. Staufen, as one of the leading consulting and training companies with focus on lean, was delighted to be a sponsor and active part of it. Major topic of this years’ summit was “how to initiate and maintain a successful lean implementation in China”. Among a diverse selection of great speakers from the industry side (e.g. from AVIC, Ingersoll Rand and UL) two well known scientists, Professor Takahiro Fujimoto from Tokyo University and Dr. James Womack, Founder of the Lean Enterprise Institute and author of the lean-bible “The machine that changed the world”, took this chance to share their enriching and inspiring experiences with the audience. Besides valuable plenary speeches participants could join 2 out of 3 intensive breakout-sessions about Lean Kata, PDCA and Strategy Deployment. One of the key findings on implementing lean successfully in Chinese companies is to combine transformation and training. While bringing action to the shop floor and executing the transformation in a systematical and practical way, key personnel has to be trained and developed.
