SMED – changeover time reduction
Why attend this workshop?
The reduction and prevention of set-up times is a permanent and important topic on the way to an efficient production, the so-called "flowing” production. In manufacturing companies which only produce according to market requirements, lot sizing and the optimization of order succession mostly belong to the past. The market decides what to produce, when and how.
Changeover times, reduced to the minimum, allow to decrease reserves and lot sizes. They also allow to maximize flexibility and reduce costs, but on condition that the problem is treated comprehensively in considering the aspect of durability of the changes introduced. Changeover time reduction does not begin at the production stage, but already at the stage of construction and planning.
During the workshops, participants get to know the course of proceeding in reducing and standardizing changeover processes. They will also have the opportunity for discussion and mutually creating tools for implementation processes.
During the workshop, simple organizational and cost-effective technical measures and ideas will be presented, which will help to successfully take the way towards "flowing production”.
